ABOUT D. M. Murray
D. M. Murray was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the youngest of three children, and born a decade after her middle sister and 14 years after her brother. Her brother and sister always referred to her as "The Spoiled One" who got away with everything they never could.

It seemed like she spent a lot of time on her own because by the time she got into grade school her brother and sister had moved out of the house. Thus, she spent an inordinate amount of time in an imaginary world that was conceived by what she had read in books and seen in movies. She had a lot of friends, but she also had friends that she imagined. She was allowed to dream and be imaginative, in fact, she had a father who encouraged just that. He always told her, "You can do anything you want to do and be anything you want to be." Pointing to his head, he would say, "All you have to do is see it up here first, then create it with these," showing her his hands.

D. M. Murray is originally from Cincinnati which is famous for the flying pig. The name was inspired due to it being called Porkopolis in the 1880s due to agriculture and hog farming being the primary industries. Before he passed in 2015 her dad had a heart valve operation. They used a pig valve to replace his faulty one. Always the jokester, after the operation her dad kept snorting at her like a piggy and laughing. After he passed she thought about those piggy noises and the fact that he was now flying high. Now she truly loves flying pigs because they symbolize where she was born and raised… AND her dad.

D. M. Murray always drew inspiration for her writing and artwork from her family, friends, neighbors, and eventually her own children and their friends, and now even her grandchildren. She loves to write about unique subjects and tries to find fun and exciting ways to help children explore their own ideas and imaginations.
