ABOUT Me
I have been a reader, writer, artist and entreprenuer all of my life. I was the youngest of three children, and born a decade after my sister and 14 years after my brother. My brother and sister always referred to me as "The Spoiled One" who got away with everything they never could.
I spent a lot of time on my own because by the time I got into grade school my brother and sister had moved out of the house. Thus, I spent an inordinate amount of time in an imaginary world that was conceived by what I read in books and saw in movies.
I had a lot of friends, but I also had a problem with my self esteem. I was pretty shy and backward, and spent a lot of time i my own head. I seemed to thrive when I was helping the underdogs in the community who also had self esteem issues. Sometimes life was just easier when I created a world of imaginary friends, which I had plenty of as well. Thakfully I was allowed to dream and be imaginative, in fact, I had a father who encouraged just exactly that. He always told me, "You can do anything you want to do and be anything you want to be." Pointing to his head, he would say, "All you have to do is see it up here first, then create it with these," showing me his outstreached hands.
I have been in the marketing industry for 25+ years, learned a lot about the industry and have helped people worldwide. I have also done social work, business administration, owned my own web design and healh and wellness businesses, worked in sales and marketing for a family of five radio stations, written copy for and voiced commercials for clients, started my own publishing company, and wrote and published a book, which is the first of many to come. I also love to do artwork of many kinds, but my favorite is drawing people and capturing their personalities in caricatures.
I am originally from Cincinnati which is famous for the flying pig. The name was inspired due to it being called Porkopolis in the 1880s due to agriculture and hog farming being the primary industries. Before my dad passed away in 2015 he dad had a heart valve operation. They used a pig valve to replace his faulty one. Always the jokester, after the operation my dad kept snorting at me like a pig and laughing. After he passed away I thought a lot about the lessons he taught me and also about those pig noises he would make. I remember thinking that the piggy was now flying high. Now I truly love flying pigs because they symbolize where I was born and raised… AND they remind me of my sweet dad.
I draw inspiration for my writing and artwork from my memories of my childhood, my family, friends, neighbors, and my own children and grandchildren. I love to write about unique subjects and find fun and exciting ways to help children and adults explore their own ideas and imaginations, and succeed in things they always dreamed of doing.
Education:
I attended Indiana University East, and have taken numerous marketing courses.
